Sebastien Reuze’s series Journal d’Une Rivière is his personal interpretation of the symbols and landscapes described in the novels Heart Of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and Day Of Creation by JG Ballard.
Journal d'Une Rivière is a recollection of memories from the journey that the artist took, following the river from its spring to its source. The series illustrates the windings of the river’s stream, captured through a set of photographic works. They constitute contemplative and hallucinatory images, a series of introspective landscapes, with saturated and mythical colours, situating themselves in an undefined temporality.
Sebastien Reuzé accentuates different stages of his journey by mixing a set of analogue and digital prints. The images compliment each other by forming a clear narrative of the river’s journey. The series consists of unique photographic works, where each image can either exist on its own or within a set of images.
In the continuity of the photographs from the Colourblind Sands series (APE edition), and those of the Monument Valley, entitled Monuments, red analogue prints, presented during his solo exhibition Hôtel Solaire at the FOMU (Fotomuseum Antwerpen, Antwerp), a selection of new photographs from Sebastien Reuzé's Journal d'une rivière series will be revealed on the occasion of Paris Photos 2021.
